This
was the first Rose Bowl in decades not to feature the Pac-10
and Big-10 rivalries we all know and hate, and proved to be
a good first for the 'Canes as well. The Hurricanes won their
first national title game WEST of the Mississippi in front
of 93,781 College Football fans. The 'Canes also won their
first title in more then 10 seasons (1991). A few things were
said about the 'Canes before this game that were proved not
to be true…. Here's a list:
1) Miami can't defend the option: Only said if you
didn't really watch the VTU game.
2) Miami doesn't perform well on the road: 34-0 lead
in the first half shut that up.
3) Ken Dorsey cannot win a game with his arm: 300+
passing yards, 200 to Dre Johnson.
With all this said…. Miami didn't buy it and came out and
stomped Nebraska. The Huskers only scored one offensive touchdown,
and shut down Eric Crouch. Crouch had a few solid runs on
QB traps, but besides the occasional run here and there, he
was shut down.
The 'Canes added one for the thumb by abusing Nebraska supposed
great cornerbacks and throwing over the top to TE Jeremy Shockey
and WR Andre Johnson. Miami was ranked #1 for a reason people,
they're the best, bar none. The only question about this 'Canes
team is: ARE THEY THE BEST EVER? |
